Gravity Experiment

We carried out an investigation, using objects of different sizes and shapes.
We used a Marble, Ping Pong ball, Sheet of paper Rubber, Pencil, Paper clip, Feather.
First we held two of the objects up at the same height, and then dropped them to see which object would land on the ground first.

When we guessed which item was going to hit the ground first, most of us chose the heaviest of the two. Then we dropped them to find out and the lightest item hit the ground first.

This table represents the results:

Which actually hit the ground first?

I know what it is

They said it was just
an owl in the tree
but they didn't
fool me!

I saw teeth
not a beak,
red eyes
not gold,
and I wont be told
it was only fluff and feathers
round it’s throat;
it was a collar
and those werent wings
but the silky folds
of a black cloak.

That was no
too wit, too woo
I heard.
It was I’ll get  you-ou!

My Speech

Nothing beats a healthy snack more than chocolate, it is a healthy snack for you because it gives you energy. It is also filled with germ killing antioxidants which are also found in most fruit. Another reason why chocolate is good for you is because it can help you during depression, as it releases calming endorphins which can help lift your mood. Eating dark chocolate can also lower your cholesterol and help your blood pressure improve. Researchers in Germany found that chocolate is good for your skin, they did a test and found that after 12 days the chocolate eaters skin was 16% denser and 42% less scaly than the non chocolate eaters.

“I can't eat chocolate because it will make me fat” are the words most spoken each day, but really anything can if it is not eaten in moderation. Chocolate has a lot of benefits from the ingredients in it. Studies show that chocolate is good for more than curing depression, it can also kill so many diseases. The secret is cacao, it is a small bean that is packed with antioxidants that can kill germs and diseases, but if it is eaten by itself it tastes bitter and disgusting.

If you are on a diet and want some chocolate but don't want to pack on the pounds,
dark chocolate can help with that, dark chocolate is filing and less fat than most other types of chocolate. It can also prevent diabetes. If you are struggling with a difficult test, eating chocolate will help boost your brain power. Would you rather eat vegetables, vegetables do have a lot of antioxidants but not as many as chocolate. Vegetables are good for keeping you fit  but chocolate is good for depression, diabetes, diarrhea, coughs and colds and many other things you never imagined.

Rubish In Schools

This is a common problem that schools have to face virtually everyday!

Students should take home their rubbish daily because some students are throwing their rubbish on the ground. If students start taking their rubbish home each day, schools would be much cleaner. Have you ever seen grey clouds when there was no rain?

That is a sign of pollution from people throwing their rubbish on the ground instead of in the bin. If students take their rubbish home more often they will be more likely to throw it in the bin at their house. Sometimes birds scramble around in the bins causing rubbish to fall out, but not only do they pull rubbish out of the bins, but they leave their droppings everywhere spreading germs around the schools. And other times the bin is too small to fit all the rubbish in it and it starts to overflow.
If students don't start taking their rubbish home, the school rubbish bin could end up looking like this.
If you throw your rubbish on the ground at school, you’re being inconsiderate  to the caretaker who has to clean up your mess every day. This also could attract rats or possums which

carry diseases like rabies and tuberculosis, would YOU want your child to catch one of these deadly diseases? We must do something about this problem in schools. If we don't make a change NOW, schools could start to look like a dump.

Social Science

People with addictions might need help and support and won't be able to help themselves, or people who need financial help or shelter.
Organisations like caritas can help donate money to people needing financial help or help provide shelter and food. Caritas also helps third world countries, donating money for them to buy food and clothes.

Science

Hypothesis: Our hypothesis was that when the carbonates were mixed with acid it would cause them to fizz, bubble or dissolve.

First we mixed the raro and the vinegar, there was a fizzing reaction and after the fizzing stopped the raro dissolved in the acid.

When we mixed the chalk with the vinegar it started to create a crackling noise and then began to form a thick clumpy  substance.

Third the tartaric acid was mixed with the lemon juice there was a fizzing reaction and then the tartaric acid began to dissolve.

When the tartaric acid was mixed with the vinegar the reaction was the same as when it was mixed with the lemon juice.

When the baking soda was mixed with the vinegar the mixture started to bubble and rise, then after a few seconds the mixture started to go down and dissolve.

We also noticed there was a change in the colour and smell after the carbonate was mixed with the acid.

Taking the bubble wrap off the juinor playground

Today was the first day of school, but instead of doing RE in the morning, we were surprised to find that we were going to be the first people to play on the junior playground. First we had to take the bubble wrap of the playground.  Everyone was running around like hens that had been let out of their  cage.

They were talking away madly like they had eaten sugar. We were allowed to play while we were taking the bubble wrap off, some of the bubble wrap was wrapped so tightly around the equipment that we needed scissors to remove it. After a while taking the bubble wrap off became tedious, but the bubble wrap had to be taken off for the junior classes. Some people were complaining about the junior playground being so small that they couldn't fit on it, without realizing that the playground was built for the junior classes. Later there was a big pile of bubble wrap on the ground that we had to pick  up and put in the bin.

Some people grabbed about one or two pieces of bubble wrap while others had piles of bubble wrap in there hands.

My Mum

My Mum is very special to me, she looks after me when I am sick and is understanding and protective of me.
My Mum is always there for me when i doubt something, she is loving and caring. I remember when i used to fall over and cut my knee.
My Mum would carry me inside and clean the blood off my knee and put a bandaid on my wound. She tends to my wants and needs.
My Mum always gives me the best of things.
My Mum holds me in her arms when i have a bad day at school, when i was little
my Mum made up a song and used to sit me on her knees and sing it to me.
Most people say that they love their mums to the moon and back, there is no way to explain how much i love my Mum.
I love her unconditionally.

Ferris Wheel

Two girls Kate and Kim were sitting in a hot muggy car, Kate was driving. She put the windows down while Kim was complaining about the heat. Both girls finally arrived at their destination, the  fair. Attending the fair was a favourite past time, their favourite ride was the Ferris wheel.

As they approached the fair ground, they could see the ferris wheel from the car. Both Kate and Kim unbuckled their seatbelts and jumped out of the car almost forgetting to lock the doors. They walked through the large gates and ran to the counter to buy tickets for the ride. The man at the counter handed them the tickets. They rushed forward, almost knocking over a young child who help a hot dog in one hand and a pink candy floss in the other.
Getting seated on the Ferris wheel was a challenge, as it rocked backwards and forwards from the motion of the previous ride. The girls sat side by side (aware that sitting too close together could cause the chair to tilt). Slowly the Ferris wheel began to turn.

The faces of everyone on the Ferris wheel showed broad smiles and laughter filled the air until there was a sudden shudder. A child at the top of the ferris wheel let our a high pitch scream. The girls were worried that something bad might happen so they yelled out to the woman at the control desk to stop the ride so that they could get off. As they got of the ride a feeling of relief rushed through them.  They both walked away and decided to go on the other rides instead.

When the fair was finished and the rides got turned off everyone left. Kate and Kim drove away laughing and smiling. They drove off in their hot muggy car, this time no one complained about anything.
